One year ago today…

This time, exactly one year ago, our teeny tiny Thomas was almost 3 hours old. He was born 6 lbs even, 18 inches long and is now 25 lbs and almost as tall as his 2 1/2 year old sister… I can’t believe that it has been a whole year! The time has flown by fast… and it’s been so very fun. Our “little” Bubby has brought much laughter, a fair amount of chaos, lots of mess, but most of all complete thankfulness to God for this gift He’s brought into our lives. Thomas, we love you so much! It’s such fun to watch you grow, change and develop right before our eyes. I pray for you each and every day and trust that God will continue to grow you to be a young man who will seek passionately after our Savior!

Happy Birthday, Bubby…

The many faces of Thomas

Ok, so this is just three of them :) I can’t believe he’s almost 1 year old!

We love our new camera! Each day is a new photo op :) I’m currently reading the manual to find out all the cool tricks it can do… so fun! Here are a few of us playing outside… Sophie loves “climbing” in her tree, and Bubby is… well, just too cute for words!

Here are a few pictures from our fun Easter weekend…

I’ve got more to post from Papa and Kaykay’s photo shoot and I’m sure I’ll have many many more photos in the weeks to come… we just got our new camera!!

Back in the swing of things…

It seems as though life is settling back down a little bit… however, as I say that we’re on the cusp of two family weddings, a possible job change for Chris, a family vacation in mid May, eventual potty-training with Sophia, and two new teeth for Thomas! I pretty much always say *or think – or complain* something to the effect of “I just can’t wait till life is back to normal…”, which is a silly and sinful thing to say because life in and of itself is never “normal”. Life is all of the above – and more! The feeling of desiring something else is nothing more than being discontent which Paul addresses in the Bible… oh Lord, thank you that your ways are so far above ours and that Your will will be done.

Here are a few updates from our busy, fun, crazy but blessed month…

Valentines Day:

Each year we have a Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner with some friends… however this past Christmas with everyone coming and going it was impossible to schedule! So we went ahead and got together in the beginning of February to finally celebrate! We all had a great time, especially Chris who had been looking forward to frying his turkey for weeks:

A here’s a fun collage of the kids…  Thomas is crawling, scooting and sitting all over the house! He keeps us VERY busy and Sophie is a huge help and likes to believe that she is Bubby’s mommy:

My wonderful man…

My husband is too wonderful not to brag on… we decided that we were going to celebrate Valentine’s Day early this year because he’s working this weekend. So Chris booked a room out by Disney for us to have some time away (the first time since Thomas was born!), planned for my mom to come over and watch our kids; we were leaving Tuesday night and going to be back Wednesday late afternoon. We talked about it, planned it together and agreed that would be our “gift” to each other. So, Monday night after work, we’re sitting eating dinner together planning our time, what we’ll do, where we’ll eat, etc. I got up from the table for a few minutes and when I came back Chris had cleared the table, and there on the table was a gorgeous lemongrass, Le Crueset tea kettle that I’ve been hinting at and saving for (because those things are pricey!)!! I was SO excited, and hugged and chided him for his sneakiness and rule-breaking. THEN he tells me to open it and inside are some adorable Valentines socks, (because I love fun socks) some dark chocolate (my favorite!) and a gift card… to a spa… where he had booked me… a one hour massage!! I know, right? :) I couldn’t believe it! I told him over and over that it was too too too tooooooooo much, but he just smiled and smugly disagreed. So the next day while he finished cleaning the house and packing and watched the kids, he sent me off to enjoy my massage so I could be relaxed and rejuvenated for our time away together…. he is so good to me!

I definitely loved my husband the day we got married and knew that that love would only grow each year of our marriage… but what I didn’t know was that Chris was going to EXCEL so early on in our marriage as a husband and a daddy. He consistently puts my needs and the needs of the kids over his own. He routinely goes out of his way to do little things that he knows will bless me. He faithfully addresses my heart, shows me my sin and reminds me of God’s grace… sometimes several times a day if it’s “one of those” days. He works crazy overtime in order to get us out from under any debt so that we can serve God to the best of our ability with the finances He provides, yet helps me with the schedule when he’s home so that I’m not overwhelmed with the extra hours he’s working. He humbly seeks the Lord in the morning so that He can receive wisdom to lead his family… and he is mine. All mine. I can’t believe how blessed I am. I am floored by God’s goodness to me through my hubby :)

I don’t know who reads this or if anyone will, but I wanted to take a moment to honor my husband and thank him for how wonderful he is :) I love you, babe!

(the picture above is us nervously waiting in line for Rockin’ Roller Coaster… oh yeah, he’s lots and lots and lots of fun too :)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Do Laundry – check

Clean bathrooms – check

Make bread/babyfood – check

Vacuum – check

Dust – ugh, still to do

A new week, with a new to-do list, new toys to put away, babies with new attitudes and new training opportunities… funny, it doesn’t sound so overwhelming when I say it that way… :) Yes, there is alot to do, but with God’s strength, we can do it all. I’ve never been one for new year resolutions, but with the new year coming up God is very faithful to remind me that His mercies are fresh and new EVERY morning – I’m so grateful for the hope we have in our Savior!

We did have a WONDERFUL Christmas, though… we had a blast with our families and cannot believe all the amazing loot we got :) Sophie and Thomas did so well with all the craziness and it honestly could not have gone any better. But it was over WAY too soon and we’re already looking forward to next year :)

Merry Christmas!

We are so ready for Christmas around here! Each day, I tell Sophie that Christmas is only a few days away and she says “Yes!” in an excited whisper… not that she really knows what it is, but her reaction to our excitement is really cute. But yes, we’re ready! I’m going to the store tomorrow to get the last couple things we need and food items for our Christmas Celebrations with our families, but other than that, all our presents are wrapped – we have two more on their way and due to arrive this weekend, after that – we’re DONE! I’ve never been finished EVERYTHING this early, but since our celebrations start on Tuesday the 23rd at Christopher and Praise’s house, it’s coming up really fast!

Other than that we’re keeping busy… the kids are crazy. Thomas is starting to scoot already! He grabs the carpet with his pudgy little hands, gets his knees underneath him and pulls… it’s so cute. He can’t go fast at all, but if he sees something he wants, he’ll slowly scoot across to get it. Which, of course, means Sophie has already started with the “No, Bubby” ’s… poor kid, he’s gonna be hearing that for the rest of his life!

While we’re eagerly anticipating celebrating the birth of our Savior with our family next week, we hope  that you (anyone who’s reading this, that is) and your family are also enjoying this season that God has blessed us with!
